AN EXECUTIVE has bought a meadow in picturesque countryside so she can relax in it when she is under stress.
Margaret Gordon, 43, a £30,000-a-year management consultant, paid £5,500 for the 1.5 acre field in Hampshire. She claims that it is an idyllic sanctuary from the modern world.
During the week, she advises public companies and local government executives on how to deal with stress.
But every weekend, Mrs Gordon, a divorcee, packs her deck chair and drives 10 miles to the meadow at Poppy Down, near Droxford.
"It is the perfect place to get away from the telephone and endless meetings and just contemplate the world," she said. "Standing in front of 12 to 20 people making presentations all day can be quite stressful.
"At the end of the week I feel drained and exhausted and need to recharge my batteries. Even an hour in the meadow helps.
"It is the ideal outlet for rest and relaxation. And the view up there is magnificent. On a clear day I can see 30 miles to the Isle of Wight.
"I just sit there and watch and listen and relax. If I am feeling energetic I may read but mostly I just sit there alone and unwind."
